  crisis of conscience online?

  i thought i read that someone was reading this book online but can't find the post.

  Never seen it on line to read. You can purchase it on line though. It is well worth the money and is good to have around to refer back to at times.

  I had to order it through a book store and gave them a false phone number so they wouldn't accidentally reach one of my dub family and start questions I didn't want to answer. Just showed back up to the store after a week and picked the book up. I actually read it in front of my family at times with a slip cover from another book over it. Worked great!

  It is sold through Commentary Press on line.

  New study edition magazine left in my door

  came home just now for my lunch break and two mags were in my door .

  the jan.15 study edition and the jan. awake .

  a friend of mine thatt still speaks to me from the hall must have dropped them off .

  I can't believe they continue to rant about higher education. It is a must if you want to live in this world. I still see many jw youths going to university, not just for 2 years, but even getting their masters and doctor's degrees. Good for them!

  To stifle natural talent and the desire to learn and excel in your chosen field is cruel. I hope they keep on ignoring the advice.

  Oh, and I forgot the name of the poster above who said it was too late to go back to school. It is never too late and especially not in your 20's. Even if you have to take a couple classes at a time, it will pay off in the long run.

  I returned to college in my 30's and have never regretted it. Having a good education has made a huge difference in my life. Never say never!

  I saw a lot of contradictions in a lot of their teachings. I just kept stuffing it away until I ran out of room. The lives that many (not all) jws live are a contradiction in themselves. I saw so many prominent ones get away with just about everything.

  Heard this on the news today. Only 2 men left here in the US who served in WW1. You would think it would cause some to wake up from the fake promises of the WT.

  I remember using "the generation that would not pass away" in the door to door work a lot. Unfortunately, it worked on occassion. How many generations can they continue to hoodwink?

  Already saw it. I agree that it was very poorly done. Not much story line or character development. Heck, no meaningful dialogue either. Will Smith was probably the only thing it had going for it.

  what jw beliefs did you make up for your own sanity?.

  for me it was regarding the flood.

  instead of believing that god had destroyed millions of people, i imagined that because of all the violence, by the time the flood came, the only people besides noah and his family that were still alive were the nephilim.

  I could never bring myself to believe in Armegeddon. A God of love couldn't be a vengeful, destructive God at the same time. I have a lot of "worldly family" and I knew they didn't deserve eternal destruction. I felt the jws would change their view on this like they have changed so many things.

  After a while, I couldn't stand to be around all the hatred for other humans. It is such a relief now to just live and let live.

  It is a great read. There are a lot of "aha" moments in there. Franz lets you in on one of the most secretive parts of the organization. When I got through it, I realized it was a business and not a religion at all.

  I liked his second book too-"In Search Of Christian Freedom".

  I used to be very much behind the global warming theory until I read the book State Of Fear by Michael Crighton (sp?). He has a lot of research in the book showing that climate change is not always depicted honestly and that man cannot control the environment in any meaningful way.

  I still recycle and treat the earth with respect, but there are some implications in the article posted that give me reason to pause. There's a lot of politics behind the movement and there is big money involved which opens the door wide to the greed factor.

  2008 study WT will be confiscated from non-publishers

  the literature servant told me that their instructions are to only give one study wt per publisher starting with the january 1st, 2008 issue.

  under no circumstances are they to provide any other copies (if lost or whatever, much like kms are provided now).

  any guests attending the wt study will be provided a copy, but then the servant who gave them the copy must confiscate it after the meeting.

  If this is correct, all someone has to do is quickly and quietly slip out the door after the study is in progress. Besides that, there are active jws who will be willing to scan the members only onto the board. Sounds like a lame idea to me.

  was it true jw's could take a transfusion without any sanctions in bulgaria kept flooding in my mind.
